Transcrypt

POLICY

Privacy

Last updated: August 23, 2026

This policy covers the Transcrypt application for macOS and this website, both created by ZanApps ("we", "us").

What we collect

Nothing. Transcrypt has no account system, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifier, and no telemetry of any kind. We do not know who you are, that you have installed the app, or how you use it.

Your recordings and transcripts

Recordings you make, media files you import, transcripts, translations, and any edits you make to them are stored on your device. We have no access to them.

Deleting a transcription within the app attempts to delete its transcript, its translations, and its stored audio or video from your device. Removing an application does not necessarily remove its stored data. Some application data may remain on your system.

Speech recognition and translation

Speech-to-text and translation both run on your device, using Apple's speech and translation frameworks. Your audio and your text are not sent to us.

Network activity

Transcrypt makes network requests via the operating system when downloading the speech and translation models it needs for a given language from Apple. These downloads are handled by macOS. After a language has been downloaded, that language can work with no network connection for as long as the operating system allows.

Apple's own privacy policy governs those requests. See apple.com/legal/privacy.

Contacting us

Our contact form is a Google Form. Anything you type into it, and the technical information Google collects when you load it, is handled by Google under Google's privacy policy. We see the responses. This is the only place in the product where information reaches us at all.

We keep support correspondence for as long as needed to answer it and to handle any follow-up, and no longer. You can ask us to delete yours at any time.

This website

This site is served by a hosting provider, and it loads fonts from Google Fonts; both receive your IP address as a technical necessity of delivering the page, as any web server does.

Children

Transcrypt is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. Since it collects no personal data from anyone, it collects none from children.

Your rights

Privacy laws including the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights over personal data a company holds about you — to access it, correct it, delete it, and to opt out of its sale. We hold no personal data about you, and we do not sell or share data with anyone. If you have contacted us for support, those messages are the only thing we hold, and you can ask us to delete them.

Security

Your recordings and transcripts are protected by the security of your own Mac, including FileVault if you have it enabled. Because nothing is transmitted to us or stored on our servers, there is no copy of your data with us that could be exposed.

Changes to this policy

If the app's behaviour changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page.
